FOXVIEW is the first amateur radio project ever
built which enable radio amateurs to view APRS packets without a PC or
expensive APRS Enabled Radio Equipment.
Designed with a large 4x20 Characters Back-lite
LCD Display, foxview includes a Modem/TNC. FoxView only requires an
audio input from your receiver or transceiver and a DC 12V supply.
FoxView is basically designed for APRS Demos, general Viewing of APRS
Data while moving and Personally, I would love to implement this for
my Community disaster management activities.
FoxView is developed with an effective active
audio filter, a MX614 Modem Chip and a PIC16F628A micro-controller.
After all these goodies, it should not cost a
fortune. In fact, with few components from here & there, you will
be able to build this viewer yourself & enjoy APRS activities.
FoxView uses two SMT chips: MX614 and MCP6023. In
fact, in my protoypes, I used PIC16F628A in SOIC package. However, for
kits I decided to use DIP package so that same hardware may be used
for DX Cluster firmware too, just by switching the Programmed PICs.
Soon, I intend make an adepter for FoxTrak/Tinytrak
owners to interface with Foxview to create an LCD Tracker!!
